The City of Rochester was awarded a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) grant as part of a Federal and New York State initiative to accelerate the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations throughout the state and to promote the adoption of EVs and PHEVs by the public.
Twenty-four charging ports have been installed in City parking lots and garages.
How it works
City of Rochester charging stations are accessed through the ChargePoint network. Visit www.chargepoint.com for complete instructions and tech support.
The basic steps are:
- Access the charging station with a ChargePoint card, the ChargePoint smartphone app, or call the customer service number posted on the station
- Once access has been granted through ChargePoint, plug in your EV or PHEV
- ChargePoint will notify you via text message or email when your vehicle is done charging
How much does the charging station cost to use?
As part of this grant–funded pilot project, customers will be able to use the charging stations at no charge for the first year.
Normal parking rules and fees apply to charging station-designated parking spaces. See the lot or garage page (listed below) for details.
City of Rochester charging stations can be found on EV charging station maps such as:
