(Wednesday, July 5, 2017) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren invites the community to enjoy free music from top national and local acts at the Bands on the Bricks free summer concert series. The series kicks off at the City of Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St., on Friday, July 14 with local reggae band Noble Vibes opening for Boston-born funk-experimental band Dopapod.

“Bands on the Bricks brings local and national talent to the City of Rochester Public Market, where everyone may enjoy great music for free,” said Mayor Warren. Events like Bands on the Bricks are an investment in our quality of life which creates more jobs, safer, more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for our citizens.”

All five Bands on the Bricks shows will be held on Fridays at the City of Rochester Public Market. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Opening bands perform at 6 p.m. and headliners perform at 8 p.m. throughout the series. All events conclude at 10 p.m. Food and drink vendors will be on site for all events.

The remaining schedule is as follows:
July 21: Latino Night features a diverse mix of Latino acts in partnership with the Puerto Rican Festival.
July 28: Extended Family opens for Something Else
Aug. 4: Oh Manitou opens for Austin-based Fastball
Aug.11: Thunder Body opens for Driftwood

Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs, as seating is limited on Market grounds.

The City of Rochester Public Market will also host an open house in the new state-of-the-art indoor shed built as part of the $8.5 million Market improvement project. Several Market vendors will be open for business in the indoor shed from 6 to 8 p.m.
