News Release - Statement by Mayor Lovely Warren on Upcoming Development Projects

City of Rochester

News Release

(Tuesday, August 15, 2017) – “I am proud to announce that two game-changing projects for the City of Rochester are moving forward, creating dozens of new jobs and making Rochester a safer, more vibrant city.

“Lots 4 and 5 of the former Inner Loop East will be sold to the Strong Museum of Play, Konar Development, and Indus Adventure Street LLC to redevelop and expand the Strong Museum. The development will include a parking garage, retail, a 250-unit residential complex and a family-friendly hotel with a water park feature. This project will transform the museum, which is already a national destination, and play a crucial role as we fill in the rest of the Inner Loop and make the area accessible to all.

“In addition, we will finally be demolishing the old, dilapidated Terrence Building on the site of the former Rochester Psychiatric Center, which has sat vacant for years. This will pave the way for a mixed-use development project by Robert Morgan and Ralph DiTucci that will include commercial space, apartment buildings and townhomes, retail, a walking trail and a four-story hotel. This development will be an invaluable asset to the neighborhood, with the University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital located less than a mile away.

“Major transformational projects are happening in all four quadrants of our City, creating jobs, making our neighborhoods safer and more vibrant, and helping us create better educational opportunities for our children. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made so far, and all that is to come.”
