Pedestrian Safety Action Plan

Project Overview

The Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) will upgrade approximately 200 signalized and unsignalized pedestrian crossings within the City of Rochester. Funding for this project comes 100% from the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program. Federal funds for this project are administered by NY State Department of Transportation. Types of treatments will vary by location, but may include any of the following at signalized intersections:

Reflective backplates (More information here)
High visibility crosswalk markings (More information here)
Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI) (More information here)
Accessible pedestrian signals (More information here)
Raised pedestrian median refuge (More information here)
Curb extensions (More information here)
