 City of Rochester News Release -- Free Introduction to Canoeing/Kayaking Event Available to the Community on Saturday, June 15, 2019


(Monday, June 10, 2019) – The City of Rochester’s Department of Recreation & Youth Services is partnering with the Genesee Waterways Center to offer a FREE “Introduction to Canoeing/Kayaking” event from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019. The event will take place at the docks near Corn Hill Landing, off Exchange Blvd., in Downtown Rochester.

Participants are asked to meet at Corn Hill Landing. Canoes and kayaks will be provided by the Genesee Waterways Center. A maximum of two adults are allowed per canoe. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration is advised. To register, visit the Genesee Waterways Center (GWC) website at www.geneseewaterways.org/events.

This family friendly event is a great opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of canoeing or kayaking on the Genesee River, as well as a chance to learn proper paddling techniques and/or improve existing skills.
