News Release - Mayor Evans Begins City’s 2024-25 Fiscal Year Budget Process

(Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans kicked off the City’s 2024-25 fiscal year budget planning process today by announcing several public input opportunities, including an online survey, a telephone town hall meeting, and attendance at various community events.  

“Our residents and businesses entrust us to be good stewards of their tax dollars,” said Mayor Evans. “We owe it to them to ensure that their concerns are at the forefront of our decision making and we are making a concerted effort to engage the community at the beginning of our process so that public input can more effectively inform the City’s budget decisions.” 

New this year are several opportunities for the public to provide input at community events in September, October, and November. City staff will set up tables and be available to gather feedback from the community and provide budget information. Tables will be set up at the following locations: 

  • Roc the Block Community Employment Fair, 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St. 
  • Fall Fest, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct, 14, Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St. 
  • City of Rochester Public Market, 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 28, 280 N. Union St. 
  • City Planning Commission Public Meeting, 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30, City Hall, City Council Chambers, Rm. 302-A, 30 Church St.  
  • Charlotte Branch Library Food Distribution Program, 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, 3557 Lake Ave. 

The public is also invited to participate in an online budget survey on the City’s website (www.cityofrochester.gov/budget) available now through Monday, Nov. 20; and Mayor Evans and his team will conduct a Telephone Town Hall Forum at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13.

The Mayor will submit his 2024-25 budget proposal to City Council by May 10, 2024. The City’s fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.
