News Release - City Indoor Pools Open Sept. 11 and Sept. 25; Outdoor Facilities Closing for the Season

(Friday, Sept. 8, 2023) – The season of outdoor swimming and splashing at the City of Rochester’s aquatic offerings is coming to an end, but two indoor pools will be open by the end of the month.

The indoor pool at the Adams Street R-Center, 85 Adams St., will open for the season at 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11. The opening of the indoor pool at the Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center, 485 N. Clinton Ave., has been delayed until Sept. 25 for repairs.

All City spray parks will close for the season Sunday, Sept. 10. The Genesee Valley Park outdoor pool and Durand Beach swimming area closed for the season Sept. 4.

The Adams Street R-Center features a full-size, heated indoor pool that is accessible for people with disabilities. The locker room includes showers.

The pool schedule provides times for open swim and swim lessons for children and adults. The pool is home to the Rochester Rapids swim team and lifeguard certification courses will be offered this winter.

Open swim hours at the Adams Street pool are: 4 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays; 4 to 5 p.m. Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Two lanes are designated for adult lap swim from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.
