About the Program
The City of Rochester repairs or replaces parking meters on City streets if they are malfunctioning, damaged, jammed, missing or if they have any other problems. The Bureau of Parking is responsible for installation, service, and maintenance of parking meters. It also collects revenues and is responsible for purchase of meters.
When do the meters run?
The City regulates more than 1,600 parking meters along certain streets. Parking is free at all meters between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. During special events such as parades, festivals, or fireworks, or during street construction, meters are often bagged to prohibit parking.
How Do I Report a Broken Meter?
Parking Meter Maintenance can be requested on a 24-hour basis by calling 311 (outside city limits call (585) 428-5990) or by requesting this service online.
To assist the City with this process, please note the address where the meter is located as well as the parking meter number, which can be found stamped on both sides of the meter.
How can I request installation or removal of a parking meter?
Call the City’s Traffic Control Board at (585) 428-6942.
