News Release - Eight members of the Fire Department promoted

News Release

(April 16, 2010) - Lieutenant Robert Mulcahy, a 22 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Captain on April 16, 2010.Captain Mulcahy joined the Rochester Fire Department in August of 1988 and was initially assigned to Quint/Midi 5 located at 57 Gardiner Avenue.  In October of 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  At this rank, he served at both Engine 5, located at 450 Lyell Avenue, and Quint/Midi 7, located at 740 North Goodman St.  His new assignment will be as a floating officer on Group 2.

Lieutenant Kevin Murphy, a 22 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Captain on April 16, 2010. Captain Murphy joined the Rochester Fire Department in August of 1988 and was initially assigned to Engine 5 located at 450 Lyell Avenue.  In July of 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  At this rank, he served at both Engine 10, located at 1477 Dewey Avenue, and Engine 7, located at 873 Genesee St.  His new assignment will be oversight and management of the Rochester Fire Department Supply Depot.

Firefighter Domenic Borrelli, a 13 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010. Lieutenant Borrelli joined the Rochester Fire Department in September of 1997 and was initially assigned to Engine 13 located at 272 Allen Street.  He has also served the Rochester Fire Department at Truck 2 located at 1477 Dewey Avenue.   His new assignment will be as a floating officer on Group 1.

Firefighter Thomas Jaworowicz, a 13 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010.  Lieutenant Jaworowicz joined the Rochester Fire Department in March of 1997 and was initially assigned to Quint/Midi 2 located at 1477 Dewey Avenue. He has also served the Rochester Fire Department at Quint/Midi 8, located at 272 Allen Street, Engine 3, located at 1051 Emerson Street, and Truck 3, located at 1261 South Avenue.  His new assignment will be as a floating officer on Group 4.

Firefighter Andrew Lonthair, a 12 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010.  Lieutenant Lonthair joined the Rochester Fire Department in July of 1998 and was initially assigned to Engine 17, located at 185 North Chestnut Street, where he has served for 12 years.  His new assignment will be as a floating officer on Group 3.

Firefighter Terry Stott, a 13 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010.  Lieutenant Stott joined the Rochester Fire Department in March of 1997 and was initially assigned to Quint/Midi 5 located at 57 Gardiner Avenue.  He has also served the Rochester Fire Department at Quint/Midi 8, located at 272 Allen Street, and Truck 10, located at 272 Allen Street.  His new assignment will be at Engine 10, located at 1477 Dewey Avenue.

Firefighter Daniel Witkowski, a 17 year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010.  Lieutenant Witkowski joined the Rochester Fire Department in March of 1993 and was initially assigned to Quint/Midi 2 located at 1477 Dewey Avenue.  He has also served the Rochester Fire Department at Quint/Midi 7 located at 740 North Goodman Street. His new assignment will be at Truck 4, located at 977 University Avenue.

Firefighter David Yiannakos, an 8  year veteran of the Rochester Fire Department will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 16, 2010.  Lieutenant Yiannakos joined the Rochester Fire Department in September of 2002 and was initially assigned to Quint/Midi 3 located at 1261 South Avenue.  He has also served the Rochester Fire Department at Quint/Midi 2, located at 1477 Dewey Avenue, Quint/Midi 5, located at 57 Gardiner Avenue, and Engine 13, located at 272 Allen Street.   His new assignment will be at Engine 8, located at 1261 South Avenue.
