The City of Rochester maintains and requires contractors to use uniform specifications for the construction of public works projects within the city. The specifications are divided into several categories:
- Standard Specifications (1991): Standard Construction Contract Documents issued November 1, 1991 and contain the standard specifications.
- Supplementary Specifications: Specifications that have been expanded or updated over the years and supersede their related standard specification
- State-approved City Specifications for use with Federal/State Funded Projects: For projects that contain federal or state funds, either in whole or in part, only locally prepared specifications that appear on this list can be utilized
- Water Specifications: The standard specifications for water work have been rewritten and are now maintained by the Water Bureau
