City of Rochester Media Release -- City of Rochester Offering Property Tax Payment Agreements to Owners In Need

City of Rochester

News Release

4th Quarter Property Tax, Water and Refuse Payments Are Due April 30

(Friday, April 24, 2020) – The City of Rochester announced today that it continues to offer Property Tax Payment Agreements to owners facing financial hardship during the COVID-19 crisis. Residents in need of assistance can visit cityofrochester.gov/taxagreement to request an agreement which allows for delayed, as well as, monthly payments. Residents can also call 428-6940 to speak to a Finance Department representative.

“We will continue to help our residents in need by offering Property Tax Payment Agreements,” said Communications Director Justin Roj. “This common sense approach allows for people who need help to receive it while ensuring we collect needed revenue for essential services, including our Police, Fire and Environmental Services departments.”

The City Budget Year commences July 1, 2020 so, unlike the County and Town Tax Years which begin January 1, it would not be fiscally prudent to defer the last quarter of 2019-2020 taxes any longer. The City, however, will waive all late fees and interest on payments due after April 30 for property owners entering into Tax Payment Agreements.

Fourth quarter property tax, water and refuse payments are due April 30. Payments were previously due March 31 before the City took action to delay the original due date.
