News Release - Senior Meal Program to Accept Reservations Monday

News Release 

(Friday, Mar. 25, 2022) – Mayor Malik D. Evans is inviting eligible seniors, age 55 and over, to call 211 to sign up for free, home-delivered meals. The City is collaborating with local restaurants and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, 211/Lifeline to provide free meal delivery to city seniors with barriers to accessing nutritious and culturally appropriate foods.

“We are thankful for our collaboration with local restaurants and the ABVI Goodwill to support the health and well-being of our seniors,” said Mayor Evans. “Providing nutritious meals for our youth and families is core to our mission of creating equitable access to essential municipal services.”

To be eligible, seniors must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Live in a qualified census tract. (Call 211 to determine if your address is in a qualified area).
  • Live in income qualified housing.
  • Be an active recipient of any of the following:
    • Medicaid
    • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Medicare Part D Low-income Subsidies
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
    • Section 8 Vouchers
    • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
     

Seniors can call 211 or (585) 275-5151 to sign up for up to three meals per week over a period of one month, up to a maximum of 12 meals per month. Meal deliveries may be requested again at the end of the thirty-day period. Lunch deliveries will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinners will be delivered from 4 to 6 p.m.

Below is a list of participating restaurants serving each city quadrant and the available menu with lunch and delivery times. Seniors must order from the restaurants serving the quadrant in which they live. 211 operators can determine which quadrant of the city that a resident lives in.
