News Release

(Wednesday, May 25, 2022) – Organizers of the Nature in the City music and art expo have issued a call for artists to participate in the second-annual event, which will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. July 1 at the City of Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St.

Nature in the City is a one-day outdoor art expo held in tandem with First Friday at Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. The artist-organized event was first held in July of 2021 and was such a success with over 45 artists and 1500 attendees that the Public Market invited its creators to make it an official “Market” event for 2022.

The event bridges urban and rural communities in the Finger Lakes region by bringing people together to express their shared appreciation of the arts and nature conservation. In addition to local art and business vendors, Nature in the City will include an exciting line-up of live dance, painting and music from local talents. Various environmental justice and nature focused organizations will be present with workshops and activities for adults and children.

Art works must be original to the artist and cannot promote violence. Prints and reproductions are allowed. Consumable and topical art forms must use natural ingredients and be free of chemicals.

Applications from artists will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, June 3 by emailing natureinthecity2022@gmail.com. Vending spots are $45.
