City of Rochester
News Release
(Thursday, July 27, 2023) – Delayed direct deposits
for employees of two departments in the City of Rochester have been delivered.
Earlier this morning, payroll payments to uniformed employees of the Rochester
Fire Department and Rochester Police Department were delayed due to issues at
the financial institution. They began being deposited at 11:30 a.m., after an
approximately six-hour delay.
Mayor Malik D. Evans, along with City payroll personnel and
senior leaders, worked closely with local representatives of Chase Bank to
address the issue.
“I am pleased to confirm that all of our employees have
received their paychecks today,” said Mayor Evans. “Now that we have the most
important priority addressed, we will get to the bottom of the cause of this
delay to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
The City’s payroll files were all approved and received
on-time by the financial institution, and direct deposit payments were due to
be delivered early this morning.
