~ Blues Traveler to Kick Off Series Under New Windstream Presenting Sponsorship ~

(Tuesday, April 30, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards joined City Councilwoman Carolee Conklin, Gerard Fisher of Up All Night Presents, Dan Smalls of Dan Smalls Presents and WCMF radio personality Dave Kane Tuesday to announce the 2013 Windstream Party in the Park summer concert series lineup. Mayor Richards also announced that Windstream will be the series’ presenting sponsor and was joined by Windstream Sales Director Cheryl Carney.

“The Party in the Park concert series has grown into one of the most prominent features on the extensive list of ‘must do’ events of a Rochester summer,” said Mayor Richards. “I want to thank Gerard Fisher and Dan Smalls for putting together a great program of music and activities for the 2013 season. And I want to thank all of our sponsors for reinforcing Rochester’s standing as the entertainment capital of our region. I am particularly grateful to Windstream for once again demonstrating its commitment to Downtown Rochester by taking on the role of presenting sponsor.”

Windstream Party in the Park will take place at the Riverside Festival Site on the corner of Court Street and Exchange Boulevard beginning June 6 and will continue each Thursday through Aug. 8. The concerts run from 5 to 10 p.m.

Headline acts this year will include:
• Blues Traveler on June 6;
• Southside Johnny, June 13;
• moe., June 20;
• Puddle of Mudd, June 27;
• Dawes, July 4;
• John Brown’s Body, the Skatalites, July 11;
• Great Big Sea, July 18;
• Leon Russell, July 25;
• Head and the Heart, Aug. 1;
• John Hiatt, Aug. 8.

“No matter what your musical taste may be. there is a show you’re going to have to see and more to discover at this year’s Windstream Party in the Park,” said event promoter Gerard Fisher. “In addition, we plan to make this a 10-week event that celebrates Rochester. With at least one Rochester band every week, a new area that features Rochester artists and street performers, Rochester food trucks, and, of course, Rochester based beer, it's all about summer in Rochester.”

The Party in the Park entrance fee will remain at just $2 per ticket. Children 12 and under are free. Ticket sales will begin May 10 and can be purchased at the gate, on ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000 with associated service charges. The successful ‘10-week Party Pass’ program will continue in 2013. Advance purchase of the 10-ticket passes provides a $5 savings off face value and allows ticket holders to take advantage of an express entry line.

New this year, local food and drink will be a highlight of Windstream Party in the Park. Food trucks will roll onto the Riverside Festival Site each week. Gourmet offerings from local trucks Brick-N-Motor, Chowder Up Seafood, ROC City Sammich, Wraps on Wheels, Le Petit Poutine, Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza and Natures Pirates will be available. Local beer from Genesee Brewing Co. and Rohrbachs Brewing Co. will be provided.

Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water into the concerts. Bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed in, and for the safety of patrons. Bleachers and other seating will be available.

Parking is available on-street and at nearby parking garages, including the Court Street Garage at the corner of South Avenue and Court Street and at the Sister Cities Garage, 28 S. Fitzhugh St. for a $5 Special Events fee.
