Things To Do

Rochester's residents and visitors enjoy a wide variety of recreational and cultural amenities to sharpen their minds, engage their interests and recharge their psychological batteries.

Our recreational offerings answer every need: the active and the passive; the solitary and the communal. These include neighborhood walking tours; organized hikes along the river gorge and an extensive system of trails and scenic overlooks for solitary walks and jogs. Rochester boasts a Philharmonic Orchestra; the Rochester International Jazz Festival; and the Garth Fagan School of Dance. Musicians and actors perform almost every night of the year on stages large and small, from the Downstairs Cabaret to the Rochester Broadway Theatre League.

More than a dozen world-class museums call our city home, including the George Eastman House, an international museum of photography and film; the Strong Museum of Play, one of the world's best children's museums; and the Memorial Art Gallery, an art museum of The University of Rochester.

The Rochester Red Wings Triple A baseball team and the Rochester Americans, our American Hockey League team are the crown jewels of a professional sports team inventory that also includes basketball, lacrosse, arena football and soccer. A broad scope of associations, clubs, sports leagues and other social networks create a host of opportunities to meet new friends, build relationships and satisfy the competitive spirit.
