
Rochester's Government Access Cable Television Channel
City 12 is Rochester's information and entertainment channel for urban lifestyles, careers and pastimes. On City 12 you will find helpful information about City services, programs and events in addition to important news about city, state, national and world issues, as well as programs about life skills that teach reading, math, cooking, healthy eating, child rearing, coping with pressures or fighting substance abuse. Rochester's government access channel is the place to find useful information about public service agencies and programs, interesting subjects for women, minorities and senior citizens, music, literature, exercise and how-to shows or award-winning news commentators and children's show.
Tune into City 12, the only place on your TV dial where you'll find Tony Brown's Journal, the News Hour, Spanish-language programming and Homework Hotline and Reading Rainbow for kids, together with updated information on government, career and family-oriented services. City 12 is municipal government television like you've never seen it before, offering 14 hours of interesting, entertaining programming daily, plus a "bulletin board" listing special events, home repair programs, jobs, health care resources, training options and more. You'll find educational and topical viewing aimed at children, adults and seniors; programs dealing with life skills and issues for every age group; shows exploring Rochester's culture and history; and others celebrating the incredible diversity that makes our community uniquely attractive.
Rochester City Council meetings and Council committee meetings are broadcast live each month on City 12. Council meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8:00 pm, while committee meetings take place at 4:00 pm on the preceding Thursday. Help Wanted
Help Wanted is a television series and multimedia project from PBS stations WMHT-Albany and WCNY-Syracuse focused on helping New Yorkers deal with the current economic crisis that is dramatically affecting individuals and families across the state.

This topical program addresses the current economic crisis which is dramatically affecting families across New York State. Citizens are eager for useful and trustworthy information in an accessible centralized manner regarding the factors affecting their current economic situation. Each episode features guests from various backgrounds and gives them real world advice for their real world situations from organizations that can truly help. Four elements of concern are addressed in each episode: Employment Resources, Job Training, Consumer Protection, and Family Finances. To learn more, visit www.helpwantedinteractive.org.

You won't want to miss, CityWise, a half-hour weekly "talk show" focusing on Rochester's most interesting personalities and relevant issues, with interviews of area elected, community and business leaders, visiting VIPs, artists and entertainers. You can enjoy watching City 12 from any TV set inside city limits connected to the Time Warner Cable system. Within City limits, the half-hour CityWise program can be viewed on City 12 Thursdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. CityWise can also be seen at 8 a.m. Sunday mornings on cable Ch. 18 with any cable-connected set in this Time Warner region or at that same time on WBGT (MY 18) with non-cable-connected TVS on UHF Ch. 26 East of the City or UHF Ch. 40 West of the City.
City 12 is programmed and managed at WXXI-TV's studios on State St., and is the nation's first collaboration between local government and a public broadcasting station.
