Rochester Animal Services volunteers are essential to the success of the organization. Our volunteers help to enhance quality of life for animals at the shelter. They extend their time and hearts to the animals. Typical activities include dog walking, animal bathing, and simply socializing with the animals, all of which enrich the animals' time at the shelter and ultimately improve their likelihood of adoption. Some of our volunteers assist with off-site adoption programs at festivals, parades, and other special events. Other volunteers assist in our clinic and spay-neuter unit. We have many active participants, but are always in need of more. In addition to working at the shelter and assisting with off-site promotions, we are also looking for volunteers to assist in developing a rescue network and foster program to re-home all of our adoptable animals. Check out the volunteer program overview to learn more about getting involved. Requirements for volunteering are:
- Completion of a Volunteer Application (or apply online) and phone interview
- Undergoing a background check
- Completion of an orientation and an on the job training session.
Please contact us if you'd like to volunteer at the shelter, at a special event, or at an off-site adoption location, or if you are interested in becoming a foster home for adoptable animals. Find out more about Animal Services in our quarterly newsletter.
