Join Us for Our Annual Fundraiser2-dogs-in-pool  

The 2016 event was another success and we hope to grow our event even bigger next year. Mark your calendar for Saturday June 3, 2017 for The Fast & The Furriest®. Join us for our 11th annual 10K, 5K, dog walk, and pet festival, which will again feature live music, food trucks, giveaways, vendors, pet contests, vaccination and microchip clinic, and a variety of activities for you, your family and your pets. Come out and help us celebrate our love of animals and our city.

The event is located at the Animal Services Center, 184 Verona Street, Rochester, NY 14608 and neighboring Brown Square Park. There is free parking (although donations are appreciated) in Kodak/Care Stream Lot D with access from Oak Street.

  • Revenue:       Over $70,000 grossed
  • Adoptions:    5 dogs and 15 cats, plus 4 dogs with waiting lists
  • Clinic:              100 microchips, 200 rabies and 200 DAP-P administered
  • 10K:                 309 Registered runners
  • 5K:                   319 Registered runners
  • Dog Walk:     210 Registered walkers

Fundraising

Runners and walkers are encouraged to fundraise individually or as a team. A team can be composed of runners, walkers, non-participant fundraisers or any combination thereof.

Can't make it to the event but want to help the shelter animals? Become an online fundraiser and be eligible to receive our great pledge-level prizes. Stay tuned for commencement of online fundraising for 2017.

We encourage all fundraisers to use the online fundraising site to simplify the process and reduce costs; however, you can also use our pledge form. Please help Rochester Animal Services and the shelter animals by forming a team today.
                

Here's how to get started:

Designate one person as team captain

  • Create your team, if you are a runner you must first register as a runner
  • Designate one person as team captain
  • Recruit team members
  • Direct each member to register and select your team
  • Start gathering pledges online or by downloading a pledge form 
  • Make team t-shirts (optional)
  • Plan your strategy for leading the pack
  • Raise funds throughout the year to increase your impact
  • Consider bake sales, garage sales, bottle drives, third-party fundraisers, etc. to boost your team earnings
  • Have FUN and THANK YOU

Race Information10K-star-16t

Runners will have two NEW courses to choose from through the City of Rochester. Both courses are certified to be accurate by USA Track & Field (NY16118KL [10K] and NY16116KL [5K]). All runners are required to sign a waiver and release of liability because the event is sanctioned by USA Track & Field (USATF). The USATF waiver and release will be available for runners to sign at Fleet Feet Sports during race packet pick ups. If you wish to review the USATF waiver and release beforehand, you can download a copy.

Registration and Packet Pick Up

Stay tuned for registration to open in January 2017.  Event day registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Avoid the lines by pre-registering online. Runners and walkers may pick up their packets and shirts at Fleet Feet Sports at The Armory on Friday June 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For runners not able to attend pre-event packet pick up, packets will also be available on event day at Race Registration beginning at 7:00 a.m. and Walk Registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday June 4.

Join us for a leisurely stroll of about 1 mile with or without you dog in support of Rochester Animal Services and the shelter animals. Stay tuned for walk registration.   

Volunteer Opportunities

Each and every day volunteers make a world of difference for Rochester Animal Services. However, for this event we need even more help to make it fun and successful for everyone involved. We need everything from parking attendants to race marshals.

Getting to the Event

There will be several street closings along the race routes to ensure the safety of our participants. Some of those street closings may impact access to the event site and parking lot. Please review the driving directions to avoid any problems.
