Come and experience a Rochester icon and institution, the City of Rochester Public Market, year-round! Avoid Saturday parking and traffic challenges by riding the bus, cycling, or walking!

By Public Transportation (Bus)

Rochester Regional Transit Service (RTS) bus routes serve the Public Market District. Check out their online trip planner (note: the Market's address is 280 N. Union Street, 14609)

Bus schedules are also available at the Market Office.  You can also get information about bus service by calling the RTS customer service line at (585) 288-1700.

By Bicycle

Enjoy the best possible parking at the Market by riding your bike! Bike racks are on the back side of the Market Office (the two-story brick house at the center of the grounds), and near the bikeprogramstickerUnion Street and Railroad Street archway entries. Enjoy easier and safer access to the Market via the Scio Street-to-Market grounds bike-pedestrian path, which includes our rail-to-trail pedestrian/bike/trolley bridge over Union Street!
See map

PLUS: There are two Pace Bike Share stations at the Market--one near the Union St. entrance and another near the Railroad St. entrance and Hayward St. pedestrian entrance! Learn more about Pace Rochester Bike Share at https://ridepace.com/roc/.

Bike Benefits Incentive/Reward Program

Market cyclists can join (for free!) our new incentive/reward program. Every week that registered participants ride bikes to the Market (regular Market days or special events), they can enter to win Market Gift Tokens!  There's no limit to the number of times you could win--as long as you keep biking to the Market, you'll be eligible to win every week you ride! Learn more at www.cityofrochester.gov/biketomarket.

Note: Cycling is getting better and better in the city! Check out www.cityofrochester.gov/bikerochester.

On-Grounds Trolley

The Market operates its own internal transit system in the form of a trolley, that will--for free!--deliver you and your weighty Market purchases back to your vehicles in the surrounding City-owned lots.  Look for the green tractor and red open-air trolley trailer circulating around the Market grounds; there are several pick up points.

Walking

The City maintains an excellent sidewalk system in all areas around and leading into the Market.  Some employers and organizations in the area have organized walking groups to the Market! If you'd like help organizing such a walking club for your workplace or group, give us a shout at pmarket@cityofrochester.gov.

Downtown/East End Garage Free Food Truck Rodeo Shuttle

For Wednesday night monthly Food Truck Rodeos, the Market will run a quick, easy, comfortable, convenient and FREE Market Shuttle from the East End Parking Garage at the corner of East Main and Scio Streets. Avoid congestion and parking challenges around the Market on Food Truck Rodeo Wednesdays by taking the Shuttle!  Parking rates apply in the East End Garage. This Shuttle is especially terrific for downtown residents  and visitors too (many of whom can walk to the downtown stop)!

The Shuttle travels in roughly 20/30-minute loops between the stop on East Main Street, near the corner of Main and Scio (right in front of the East End Garage), and the Market stop right across from the Union Street gateway entrance.  Look for the Market Shuttle Stop signs.

The first Shuttle leaves the East End Garage at 5:30 p.m.; the last one leaves the Market at 9:30 p.m.
