News Release

(Friday, Sept 8, 2023) For the 39th year in a row, the City of Rochester has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). GFOA is also honoring the City’s Finance Department/Accounting Bureau with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement.

“Managing tax dollars is among the most important duties at City Hall,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “These awards reflect our commitment to the highest standard of government accounting. I could not be prouder of Director of Finance Kim D. Jones, her Deputy Director Kathleen Havens, and every member of her team for shaping the City’s most recent financial report.”

The certificate of excellence and the award of achievement is for the annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended in June of 2022.

The report was judged by an unbiased panel.  According the GFOA: “[I]ts attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

The GFOA is a national organization that provides best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research to its 23,000 members and the communities they serve.
