(Friday, Sept 8, 2023) For
the 39th year in a row, the City of Rochester has received a
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the
Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). GFOA is also honoring the
City’s Finance Department/Accounting Bureau with an Award of Financial
Reporting Achievement.
“Managing tax dollars is among the most important duties at
City Hall,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “These awards reflect our commitment to
the highest standard of government accounting. I could not be prouder of Director
of Finance Kim D. Jones, her Deputy Director Kathleen Havens, and every member
of her team for shaping the City’s most recent financial report.”
The certificate of excellence and the award of achievement is for the annual
comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended in June of
2022.
The report was judged by an unbiased panel. According
the GFOA: “[I]ts attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a
government and its management.”
The GFOA is a national organization that provides best
practices, professional development, resources, and practical research to its
23,000 members and the communities they serve.
