Along with Highland and Seneca Parks, Genesee Valley Park was designed by famed landscape architect Frederic Law Olmsted. Olmsted highlighted the naturally occurring, rolling pastoral fields of the area when he planned the 800+ acre park. A favorite spot for golfers, crew teams, kayakers, and cross-country skiers, Genesee Valley Park is one of the oldest parks in the area.

  • Three baseball diamonds* are located off of Crittenden Road with four others off of East River Road. Available on a first-come, first serve basis if the field is not in league use
  • A soccer field can be found near the East River Road entrance and there is even a cricket field close to the East River Road entrance as well.
  • Hiking trails, biking paths, playground areas, cross-country ski trails and 8 picnic shelters dot the park.
  • Two 18-hole golf courses, complemented by a clubhouse with pro shop and food concession, make GVP a popular spot.
  • Canoeing and fishing access to Genesee River, New York State Barge Canal and Red Creek is available in GVP.
  • The Genesee Valley Sports Complex, 131 Elmwood Avenue, is an all-season facility with a large indoor ice arena and an outdoor olympic-sized swimming pool.
