The City of Rochester has 38 charging ports installed in City-owned parking lots and garages to accelerate the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging stations throughout the city and to promote the adoption of EVs and PHEVs by the public. The stations were funded with grants from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

How it works

City of Rochester charging stations are accessed through different EV Networks. See the list of locations below to learn about the different networks.

The basic steps are:

  1. Access the charging station with a network card or smartphone app, or call the customer service number.

  2. Once access has been granted through the network, plug in your EV or PHEV
  3. The network will notify you via text message or email when your vehicle is done charging

Remember: Normal parking rules and fees apply to charging station-designated parking spaces.
